We hope that all Fox Hill students, staff and families have a restful and relaxing summer break.  Keep in mind that the first day of school for students for the 2015 – 2016 school year is Monday, August 3rd!  Over the summer, we hope that each of our students will continue to improve on their reading and math skills to allow for a smooth transition to their next grade level.  Here are some ways that students can work on their skills:

Indianapolis/Marion County Public Library Summer Reading Program

This long established program at the public library offers many incentives for summer readers.  Beginning on June 3rd and continuing though July 27th, students. by reading, earn point that can be redeemed for prizes such as an Indianapolis Indians pass, a Royal Pins Fun Package and an Indiana State Fair Admissions pass.  For more details:  IMCPL Summer Reading

Don’t forget that fourth and fifth graders can begin reading the 2015-2016 Young Hoosier books.  Get the list here:

Indiana’s Hoosier Family of Readers Summer Reading Initiative

The Indiana Department of Education, in partnership with MyOn, is offering 3,000 online books for free!  The goal for the initiative is for students to identify their Hoosier Family of Readers and read each day throughout the summer.  A reading family can be any combination of caring adults and children.  IDOE is partnering with over 164 organizations including libraries, Boys & Girls Clubs, scout troops, schools, churches, United Way and other non-profits state wide.  Organizations are being empowered to include reading within their summer programs. In addition,  summer nutrition programs will feature an Eat & Read opportunity in many locations.   Check this website for more information:
